Peppermint Lip Balm

This is my favorite lip balm to use all year round. It help prevent lips from getting dry and cracked (if they’re already dry and cracked, it’ll help with that too!). It’s also great for keeping them soft. Overall, my opinion is that it’s better than any store-bought tubbed lip balm yu could buy. And it’s not all that hard to make either. It’s actually pretty quick, believe it or not!

Easy homemade peppermint lip balm. Great all year round!

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Prepare a double broiler by filling the bottom of a pot with water and placing your double boiler on top. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer.
  2. Add the beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil to the double broiler. Stir until melted, using a wooden skewer or chopstick.
  3. Remove the double broiler from the heat. Stir in olive oil and peppermint essential oil.
  4. If your double broiler has a pour spout, you can easily pour the melted mixture right into the tubes. If yours doesn't have a pour spout, you can either try to carefully pour it into the tubes right from there or first pour it into something that does have a pour spout (like a liquid measuring glass) and then pour it into the tubes from there.
  5. Allow them to cool before placing on the caps. Store for up to one year.

Notes

ESSENTIAL OILS

You can use whatever flavor and amount of essential oils that you like. I would recommend using a high quality essential oil. Since lip balm is very near to your mouth, you may inadvertently consume some.

LIP BALM TUBES

Lip balm tubes can be purchased online or from most craft stores.
